The Home of The True Coolness
The Home of The True Coolness
So at one point in my life I decided it would be cool to have blue hair, and figured since it was senior year of high school, why not (famous last words, and a phrase I often use). Little did I know just how hard it would to achieve such a color with a very dark natural hair color. So first I thought I would dye it blond, to lighten it so I could color it. Turns out trying to dye dark hair blond just turns it orange, so for a while I had orange hair. Then I goto a salon to have it done. Apparently they don't know the difference between sky blue and sea green, so my hair was sea green for a while and I was out like $70 (Today's Lesson, don't go to get an exotic hair color at a salon, just do it yourself). They also did not do a very good job as for like the first week or so when my hair got wet the color would bleed and get on clothes and such, so that was fun. Then I found out about bleaching your hair, and found a bleach and color in one thing and that finally worked, though only for about the outer half of my hair (the rest was just bleached). But I had succeeded and got the color I wanted. Wish I had taken some pictures of it, maybe at some point I'll do it again when I am firmly in a career job, and don't need to worry about appearance.

So if you have really dark hair, think really hard before making the decision to change it. Unless you like orange hair that is. This was an interesting experience to say the least, and will get you some attention. Probably not the attention you want though. It will be a while before I try this again, but I do want to do it and get pictures this time, of course since finding a job is hard enough already, probably not a good idea to do it anytime soon.
